League titles
1900-01, 1905-06, 1921-22, 1922-23, 1946-47, 1963-64, 1965-66, 1972-73, 1975-76, 1976-77, 1978-79, 1979-80, 1981-82, 1982-83, 1983-84, 1985-86, 1987-88, 1989-90, 2019-20 Liverpool have won a phenomenal 19 top-flight league titles, with Jürgen Klopp leading the Reds to their most recent in the Premier League in 2019-20. They did so in dominant fashion, winning 26 and drawing one of their opening 27 matches, before wrapping up the campaign with a club-record total of 99 points. That was a top-flight title win that arrived some 119 years after Liverpool’s first when, just nine years after its formation, Tom Watson led the club to the 1900-01 championship.
European Cups
1976-77, 1977-78, 1980-81, 1983-84, 2004-05, 2018-19 Liverpool’s rich history in the European Cup includes six triumphs – the most of any English side in the competition. The Reds first got their hands on ‘Old Big Ears’ on May 25, 1977, when thousands of supporters took over Rome to watch Bob Paisley’s side beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1. Terry McDermott’s first-half finish was cancelled out by Allan Simonsen soon after the interval, but Tommy Smith’s header and a Phil Neal penalty gave Kopites a cherished moment.
FIFA Club World Cup
2019 Jürgen Klopp’s side were the fourth Reds team to attempt to win either this competition or its precursor, the Intercontinental Cup, since 1981. A shade more than six months on from securing Champions League glory in Madrid, Klopp’s men travelled to Qatar seeking to achieve an unprecedented feat in the club’s history. And they duly did just that, first by overcoming Monterrey of Mexico 2-1 in the last four and then defeating Copa Libertadores holders Flamengo 1-0 in the final thanks to an extra-time winner by Roberto Firmino.
